It rarely snows in Alabama, but this is what I woke up to this morning.
By this afternoon it looked like this:
I loved snow days as a kid, but not so much as an adult. Sadly, we didn’t even venture out to play in it. Lincoln has been sick lately, so I didn’t think it was the best idea to play in the cold wet snow.
Breakfast was 2 small blueberry muffins and an apple. I devoured it before I had a chance to take pics.
Lunch was a yummy veggie plate with zucchini, squash, broccoli with cheese, and roasted new potatoes.
Tim has been out of town for the past week in Washington DC. He finally made it home today! He was 2 days late coming home because of the snowstorms. He ended up flying part of the way home and then driving from Atlanta because the airport here was closed. Lincoln and I took a picture of him coming in.
I’ve never been so glad to see him in my life. This week has been really rough being a “single mom”. I was glad to dump some of the responsibility off on him. One of the first things I did after he arrived home was to go for a run.
I seriously considered heading out in the snow for a scenic run, but ultimately I decided to stick to the treadmill today. I honestly didn’t feel like layering up, so I took the easy way out.
I pounded out 5 good miles on the treadmill while watching an episode of Grey’s Anatomy. I’m trying to catch up on Season 5, so that I can get started on the current season. I finished 5 miles in 42:45.
After my run I was HANGRY! I had intended to eat leftover vegetarian chili from last night, but I had a hankering for tempura. We ventured out in the snow to my favorite sushi bar. My eats included:
Miso soup and a small salad with ginger dressing. Then Tim and I shared vegetable tempura, some veggie sushi, and a veggie hibachi dinner with fried rice.
I went from starving to stuffed! It was definitely worth it though.
After dinner we headed over to a couple sporting goods stores to find new running outfits for the Half Marathon on Sunday. The weather is suppose to be cold and rainy so I needed some appropriate attire. I couldnt find anything that looked even halfway decent at the first place we went, but I was able to find an outfit at the second store.
I got some new Under Armour ColdGear black compression pants and a ColdGear top with a built in hoodie. I think the outfit makes me look stealthy and kinda ninja-esque. Tim said that I look fast!
Tomorrow we are headed up to Birmingham to go to the Health and Fitness Expo where we will pick up our race packets. We are planning on going to dinner at my most favorite restaurant tomorrow night and then the race will be first thing Sunday morning. It should be a great weekend!
