About

My name is Amanda. First and foremost I’m a mom to the most wonderful little boy in the world, Lincoln. I’ve been married to my wonderful husband for almost 12 years. I gave up my job as a charge nurse in Labor & Delivery to spend more time at home with my family. I now teach L&D clinicals for a local nursing school on a part time basis. I run, CrossFit, do yoga, cook and eat .. sometimes healthy, sometimes not. I love red wine, often too much and I have a lot of fun.

Amanda! I am so proud of you! I know I’ve told you several times but wanted it to be posted on your blog. Everytime I read about a new race or a new recipe (I read all of them) I’m again reminded of where you started and how far you’ve come. You’re an inspiration and I’m so glad we stayed in touch so I could follow you through this amazing journey! Congratulations on your new life!

Hi Amanda, read your story in the Sunday paper then got on this. I admire you so much for what you have done. And running that is something else. I am overweight too and after three back surgeries and other surgeries I can hardly walk, I wish I could run. Now some of the food you eat I could not even try but you have done so good. I wish you luck and hope I can do the same by cutting way back. Your story is truly an inspiration to all of us who are overweight.

I love to run, but due to job demands, it has been 3 long yrs since my last run. I maded myself a promise I would start running again this yr. Do you know if there are any running clubs in Mtg for beginner runners. I’m start training by myself Saturday.

    Thanks,
    Anita

I really enjoy following your blog. I’m heavy and working on making life changes, working out, eating better/wiser, and taking up jogging again. I just ran across http://vanessaruns.wordpress.com/ and thot you might like her advice on running. Thanks for sharing your life in this way. It’s truly inspiring!

Hi Amanda, just happened to find you while searching for a healthy low glycemic cookie. I have just been ordered by my doctor to loose 30 pounds fast to avoid becoming diabetic. I have started “Zumba” and running and trying to avoid carbs and have lost my first 10 pretty easily… now the cookie cravings are starting. 🙂

I love your style. Thanks for sharing your world. I’m from Wi but live in Utah and your photo atop your home page makes me homesick for the northwoods.

Dear Amanda – I started a new blog a few months ago and am slowly adding posts to it – mostly trying out different workouts and writing about them – came across your blog because you also wrote about Jillian Michaels’ No More Trouble Zones workout…. I’m amazed by your discipline – just the fact that you’re working (night shifts!!!), have a baby and are able to maintain a blog with such regularity is an achievement… not to mention the intelligence that you bring to the lifestyle discussion – so glad I found you… I wish there was a way to bring courageous and active women together from all over and see what we can do!

Hi! My name is Leslye. I read on your blog where you bought a Nike shirt that says “suffer now, strut later”. Can you tell me where you got it at? I saw one at Dick’s Sporting Goods about 4 months ago in a size small and at the time could not fit into it. Now 20 lbs lights, I am looking for that shirt. If you come across it again will you please let me know. I would absoluately LOVE to get that shirt!
Hope to hear from you soon.
    Thanks!
